PTO Back To School Dance:
The OMS PTO Back to School Dance will be held Friday, September 17th from 6pm to 7:30pm for 6th graders and 8pm to 9:30pm for 7th and 8th graders. Admission is $2 for all students, free refreshments will be provided and pictures may be ordered for 50 cents each.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear OMS Parents and Students:
Welcome to a new school year! This is always an exciting time for students
and staff. Our focus will be on providing each child with new challenges that
will result in a rewarding school experience. Academic emphasis on the core
content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain
a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds on each year
to reach local and state standards. Instruction in the fine arts, career arts, technology,
and physical education complete our program providing each student
with the opportunity to develop areas of interest and skill.
As we begin this year, please remember that this is your school and we welcome
your involvement. To increase communication between home and school,
we are asking all students to utilize their Ottawa Middle School planner. The
planner is good for the entire school year and serves as a link between home and
school. Additional communication networks are via the school website:
www.omswhirlwinds.com, school reach: a phone messaging system, emails and
phone calls from staff.
I encourage you to join us at school activities establishing strong foundations
and being positive role models for your children. We offer opportunities to
volunteer within the PTO in helping at dances, fun nights, planning meetings, tshirt
sales, concessions and many, many, other ways.

and safe learning environment that supports student success.
